Frequently asked questions

01Which devices and languages are supported?

TaSee requires iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The app supports English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean. Change the interface in Settings > Language. System permission dialogs and Apple purchase prices follow the relevant iOS and storefront settings.

02How do I import a photo?

Use Import photo to choose a JPEG, PNG, or HEIC in the system picker. Only selected images are made available. If an iCloud image is still loading, allow it to download or try a smaller image. Three original sample scenes work without photo access.

03Why is the camera unavailable?

Check camera permission for TaSee in iOS Settings, then reopen the camera. A physical iPhone uses its front and rear cameras. Simulator builds show a labeled illustration, not a real camera feed. The camera pauses when the app moves into the background or the system interrupts it.

04Why can’t I save or share an export?

Allow add-only Photos access in iOS Settings and check available storage. If you decline Photos access, use Share > Save to Files or another destination. Temporary exports disappear when the export screen closes, so save or share before leaving it.

05Why is my video silent, and how long can it be?

TaSee intentionally exports silent 720p comparison videos of 5, 10, or 15 seconds, and caps live recordings at 15 seconds. Video features require full access. Microphone permission is never requested; missing audio is not a fault.

06What is free and what does full access unlock?

Dog and housefly photo effects and branded PNG exports are free. One non-consumable purchase unlocks the other six perspectives, unbranded image export, video, paid live-camera effects, and paid guide visual demonstrations. Written guide explanations and research links remain free. Model labels and versions stay on exports even when branding is removed. There is no subscription; Apple displays the current local price before purchase.

07How do I restore a purchase?

Use Restore Purchases with the same Apple Account used to purchase. A pending purchase unlocks after approval; cancelling does not discard your current photo edits. If access remains locked, check Apple’s purchase history and email the error details without payment credentials. Purchases simulated in development builds do not transfer to the App Store app. Apple handles billing and refund requests.

08Is this exactly what an animal sees?

No. These are illustrative RGB teaching effects, not validated animal-vision reconstructions or medical tools. Ordinary photos cannot recover ultraviolet, night-vision signals, additional bird color channels, or subjective perception. Read the field guide, research links, and model-status labels for the limits of each effect. The observation games are authored activities, not measurements of animal ability.

09Are my photos uploaded? What does Clear cache remove?

No photo or camera upload takes place. Clear cache deletes temporary export files only; it does not delete originals in Photos or reset your local game records or preferences. Saved exports and items already shared must be removed in their destination app.

10How can I make exploration more comfortable?

Use practice modes, increase text size with iOS Dynamic Type, enable Reduce Motion in iOS accessibility settings, or hide animal companions in TaSee Settings. Effects are illustrations; stop using the camera if movement or visual effects feel uncomfortable.
